5 of Aishwarya’s Best Bridal Looks from Movies

By  |

Bollywood has always been a great source for inspiration when it comes to fashion. Imagine what inspiration it must have on the wedding fashion statements of the whole nation! Yes, our favourite celebrities and their on-screen bridal outfits mesmerize us so much that it leaves us with no choice but to “steal the look.” In our previous article, we have presented Kareena’s best bridal looks. Here, we will take a look at the reel life bridal looks of the ever-gorgeous diva, Aishwarya Rai –

1. Jodha Akbar

Can we ever imagine anybody else in the role of a true blue Mughal rani of the great king Akbar? No, because this green-eyed damsel never gave us a chance to do so. If we thank Neeta Lulla for presenting to us the most beautiful bride of Bollywood till date, it definitely will not be an overstatement. Looking every bit of ravishing and exquisite in the finest of Mughal bridal wear, red lehenga with the best of intricate metallic gold embroidery, she was elegance personified. All kind of traditional, heavy and royal kundan jewelleries added more opulence and richness to this on-screen Mughal Empress.

2. Devdas

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is not only brilliant in making brilliant films, but also in making his heroines look incredibly gorgeous. Here, in his adaptation of Sarat Chandra’s much acclaimed novel, Devdas, we had not only one, but two equally distracting beauties claiming our attention. Aishwarya’s look as a 19th century Bengali bride became a rage among the brides-to-be and it still is. The intricately designed ornaments and kundan jewelleries are the main highlights of this bridal look. And, oh, Her EYES! We’re not sure whether it’s the Bhansali magic or something else.

3. Chokher Bali

Although this Tagore novel is about a widow, portrayed by as elegant as ever Aishwarya, but her bridal avatar became an instant hit. Once again, a Bengali bride, she looked innocence personified with those big wide eyes, red Benarasi saree and traditional Bengali jewelleries. Rituparna Ghosh, the late director who was famous for his aesthetic perfectionism, copied the most authentic bridal look from that era. And, well, we can see how much he succeeded in that.

4. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

It’s been 16 years, still neither the hero of this film nor its audience could get over Nandini, the bandhni-printed lehenga-clad spoil girl, Aishwarya with her knee-length hair cascading down and her big green eyes. While we will remember her forever in that red chiffon and black shawl, she looked equally breathtaking as the unwilling bride forcefully married to somebody else. The white and orange Gujarati style saree with front pleats, traditional gold jewelleries and lipstick matching the shade of the saree made her stand out and perfectly complimented her personality.

5. Jewellery Ad

To be fair, this bridal look is not from any film, but it is just too beautiful to not include in our list of Aishwarya’s best bridal looks in movies. The rich fiery red silk saree with a tinge of orange makes Aishwarya divinely beautiful. The complete set of traditional gold jewelleries and perfect makeup make it hard to take eyes off her.
