Looking like a million bucks is your every right on your wedding day. We’ve all ooh’d and aah’d over photos of beautiful brides who look out of this world in umpteen wedding magazines. But according to makeup experts, making your wedding makeup last all day needs a lot more work and effort from your side. If you want to look dewy fresh all through the day, then read these 6- tips on how to make your wedding makeup last, carefully:

1. Follow a Skincare Routine

Even if you haven’t faithfully stuck on to a beauty regime in months, three months before the wedding is the best time to prep your skin for D-day. Moisturise during winter and make sure your skin stays hydrated during the summer. Don’t go to sleep with any makeup on and make sure that you see a dermatologist if you have any untimely breakouts.

2. Use Waterproof Makeup

In order to make your wedding makeup last the whole day, you also need to make sure that you use only the best quality products on your skin. Prepare for the weather- use waterproof makeup that won’t run just in case it’s a rainy day. Besides, waterproof foundation in particular sits lightly on the skin and doesn’t clog any pores too.

3. Carry your Sunscreen

You’ve heard it before- SPF protection is super important for skin that’s truly healthy from the inside. That’s why you need to make sure that you wear your sunscreen at all times even when it’s a dull or rainy day. That’s because UV rays are present even on rainy days! We suggest using creams that have a non-oily base or a matte textured one which can be worn with makeup.

4. Go with a Layered Makeup Look

The key to mastering wedding makeup is to ensure that you don’t apply all your makeup on at once but that you apply it one layer after another. For example, in order to make sure that your eye makeup lasts longer, apply a layer of foundation on the eyelids first and then apply your eyeshadow. Finish the look with a liquid eyeliner or gel.

5. Matte Lipstick Is the Answer

Think about it- of all the makeup products that may be found in our handbags, it’s the lippie that we just can’t do without. One way to make sure that your lipstick stays on the whole day is by using a lip liner and matte lipstick. We suggest using a bright deep shade of red, pink or plum because the pigments used in these lipsticks tend to last longer. Apply the lipstick at least two times.

6. Take Time on Your Wedding Day

We know that you would prefer to rush through all the wedding makeup procedure and enjoy your moment in the sun by posing for the photographer, but the most important trick to getting the flawless wedding makeup right is by allowing your stylist to take her/his time to do your makeup right. Give them enough time to set your hair and makeup properly so that they can exfoliate and hydrate your skin in steps.
