We were just waiting for Indian Bridal Fashion Week 2013 to get over for showcasing the top pieces seen at the much awaited event. For those of you who have tuned in late, the Indian Bridal fashion week took place from July 23rd to July 28th 2013. The first day began amidst much pomp (and chaos) with JJ Valaya showcasing his royal and opulent ‘The Maharaja of Madrid’ Collection. His showstoppers were Kabir Bedi and Kangana Ranaut.
Rohit Bal’s collection ‘The Mulmul Masquerade’ was inspired by the Victorian era- hence the high necked gowns. Nayanika Chatterjee opened the show while Sonam Kapoor was his show stopper. The highlight of Rohit’s collection probably was when Sonam (and Rohit) broke into a little impromptu jig at the end. All of Rohit’s models wore intricate bridal jewelry designed by AZVA.
Suneet Verma’s ‘The Golden Bracelet’ collection showcased some intricate gold zariwork. His show stopper was the beautiful Chitrangada Singh who set the ramp on fire in a beautiful gold and red shimmering lehenga. Actress Esha Gupta too wore a red and gold Lehenga as Adarsh Gill’s show stopper. Actress Nargis Fakhri of American origin expressed a desire to get married in an Indian outfit like the one she showcased for designer duo Ashima Leena.
Other Bollywood stars that descended on the IBFW 2013 platform included Neha Dhupia, newcomer Alia Bhat (who showcased the AZVA collection inspired by the saat pheras of Indian weddings), Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor, Amyra Dastur and Lisa Haydon(who was the show stopper for Tarun Tahiliani for his brilliant Gold, Enchanted Forest and Man of the Hour collections.
