Looking for a wedding theme that’s designed to stupefy your guests from the word go? Well, how about a Harry Potter themed wedding then? You’ve probably seen plenty of Potter themed weddings being held in other countries in its full glory, but just how possible is it for an Indian wedding to use this kind of a theme successfully? Considering that there are so many traditions and ceremonies that are uniquely Indian, we discovered that it was quite possible to get inspired by JK Rowling’s mystical world and use a few distinct elements in an Indian setting:

The wedding invite usually sets the tone for what is to follow. You could give a scroll like invite to the guests or opt for a sealed invitation with calligraphy.

Here’s where it gets really interesting. Each of the four houses in Hogwarts has its own distinct set of colours. Gryffindor has red and gold, Hufflepuff has yellow, Slytherin has green and Ravenclaw is known for its use of blue and white. Depending upon which house is your favourite, you can wear those colours in true Harry Potter spirit! Choose your jewellery according to the house colours too.
Wedding Décor

It’s the wedding décor that sets the mood and if done right, we bet that your guests will feel like they are stepping back in time when they set foot in the wedding venue. Candles in jars, overhead flower chandeliers, quaint cutlery displayed in the colours of the chosen Hogwarts House, handwritten banners scrolls and even a few sketches are a must. A few open books and mini tables with wands will also look great.
The Cake

The wedding cake of late has moved on from being just a dessert to being an artistic masterpiece that deserves applause. With such an interesting Harry Potter theme, there are no dearth of great cake designs that you can choose from. Choose your favourite scene from the movie, have mini figures of the main characters or simply let your favourite Hogwart’s House colours shine!
Desserts

We like the idea of a dessert butterbeer, chocolate frogs, a chocolate fountain, mini desserts in shot glasses and basically anything that’s fudgey, butterscotch loaded and chocolatey!

Gift your guests with a gift set of ‘potions’ which could be little vials of aromatherapy oils or even perfumes. Home-made dessert jars, mini snitch bracelets or even scarves in the four House colours would look gorgeous.
