1) Tell us a bit about yourself-how you started out on this journey and the moment you knew that a career in makeup/styling was for you?
I started my journey in early 2011, when I left the corporate world to pursue my passion for makeup. I underwent extensive training in this field and was extremely lucky to have received the guidance of prominent  makeup experts. Thanks to this, I soon specialized in Airbrush Makeup. Today, I have my own team – Bride in Vogue consisting of makeup specialists and hairstylists who offer professional services.. My team is open to travel to various locations, venues,  destination weddings within and outside Delhi for bridal makeovers.

2) What is your favorite part of bridal makeup?

Flawless touch with airbrush,  enhancing the volume of the eyelashes and using traditional kajal are all my favourites. Additionally, I love the final touches and draping her dress correctly just before she leaves for the pheras!

3) What are latest trends in wedding makeup and hair styling which our brides should know about?
Less is more. Flawless you is the new mantra. The trends are also pointing to subtle foundation ,  soft highlights for morning ceremonies and contouring for the evening with  well defined eyes and lips. This is what brides should look out for. For the hair: messy updos, elaborate buns and curling hair to add volume is trending.

4) Can you give a brief timeline for a bride’s skin and hair regime- what should she start out with a year before the wedding and in the days and weeks leading up to the Big Day?
Indian skin requires a lot of moisture not only from outside but from inside as well.
Cleansing, toning, moisturizing routine is a must. Adding on non greasy sunscreen is a must across all weathers. Skin regime is discussed during a proper consultation session with the brides-to-be while taking into account their skin texture and lifestyle.  I am strictly against dieting and encourage brides to keep themselves hydrated and nourished through regular small meals. It is important to also eat light at night and regularly flush out of toxins.

5) Your favourite product and why you love it…
For a makeup artist, it’s rather  difficult picking a product as a favourite. We need everything from time to time, based on the individual’s needs. However,  Flawless Finish with Airbrush Foundations is what I always advocate for that  Less is More look.
6) Must have skin care essentials in a bride’s trousseau?
  • Cleanser, Toner, oil free moisturizer.
  • Non greasy sunscreen.
  • Baby oil or good branded makeup remover.
  • Night cream and eye cream ( as discussed with one’s Dermatologist)

7) Finally- any tips for brides to look modern yet traditional at the same time, particularly from the parents and in-laws point of view? How can she achieve that look?

Indian brides can add a touch of glitz and glam but also be traditional through the right use of the right products. For the minimalist bride, I recommend Kajal,  Mascara,  a small Bindi and soft lip gloss. For ladies who love makeup, I recommend a good BB cream, teaming it up with the right finishing powder which can help you achieve the less is more look.
