How We Met?

We used to work at the same office but had never interacted with each other before. It was the festival of holi and that’s where we first met. He says when he spoke to me that evening, he loved my ideologies and thoughts and knew he wanted to marry me. I’d say it took me some time, but eventually, I gave in!

The proposal

We were planning a trip to Goa with friends and I was constantly telling our mutual friends to drop him hints to propose in Goa. He kept telling me that it is too cliché. On the second day of our trip we were going to my favourite beach – Vagator – and he asked to come along for a walk on the beach. All those who know Tanmay, know he is not the one for romantic gestures and walks on the beach. I was excited. He then said we’re all going to my favourite restaurant at Vagator – One Degree – and it happened there! I was completely taken aback but it was also exactly how I had wanted it to be. Overlooking the setting sun on the beach and a grand surprise!

Our Wedding Venue

The wedding took place in two cities – Lucknow and Delhi. We chose two clubs at Lucknow which are conventional and traditional. The reception was at a resort in Chattarpur – making it a laid back party affair. My mehndi was in my own garden at my ancestral house in Lucknow, decorated in hues of pink and yellow. My groom surprised me at my mehandi with an entry with dhol. The decoration was by Divine Designs, an upcoming décor house based in Lucknow. My dad and I tirelessly sat through each detail of the decoration and food. We are a food loving family and love to experiment with different cuisines and this reflected in the wedding menu.

Wedding photographer

We met and spoke with a lot of photographers but Deepak Bisht Films Pvt. Ltd. had a vision similar to ours and their work was amazing. What’s more, he gave us a lot of ideas, brainstormed with us and didn’t burn a hole in our pockets.

Make Up Artist

Back in Lucknow, my makeup artist was Bobby Dayal who works at TBCC. Bobby Dayal is the best and the most well-known MuA in Lucknow. He is known to experiment and understand his clients very well.

In Delhi, my makeup was done by Shweta Rai, Studio 77. I chose her because I wanted something elegant and classy for my reception. My mother and I spent a lot of time deciding on the artist and making sure the make-up was different for each occasion, just like my outfits.

Honeymoon

We both love the beach and wanted to visit a less frequented, not overtly crowded place for our honeymoon. So we started our research and zeroed in on Seychelles for its iconic beaches, breath-taking beauty and very few visitors. We conducted our own research and hand-picked the flights, hotels and itinerary. Our advice to all couples is to always custom-make your holiday as this will be a once in a lifetime experience. At Seychelles, among other things, we lived and ate like the locals, met some very well-mannered people and visited the best beaches in the world. On our way back to the airport, our local taxi driver mentioned, that according to their religion, if one has visited Seychelles – they have visited heaven- and we couldn’t agree more.

Our advice to couples who are getting married

This is your day – you are going to remember this for your lifetime. Ensure that elements of you as a couple, your craziness and your vibrancy is reflected in the decoration, theme, ceremony, hospitality and food.
