10. Fusion cuisine
The health craze or the need to try out something different has driven our young couples to turn to fusion foods. So, you are bound to find exotic dishes making rounds in Indian wedding menus rather than the same old fare.
9. Signature cocktails
A cocktail bash might have once been considered a western trend; however, signature cocktail parties are making their round in the Indian pre-wedding scenes. Drinks named after the bride and groom, or those conforming to the wedding day colours or themes are few of the trends that we noted and loved.
8. Exotic decor
Tree lights, overhead hanging Chinese lanterns , exotic chandeliers along with exquisite detailing on the walls and ceilings are adding an extra dimension to the Indian wedding decor. The Mandaps are getting highly artistic as bridal families are sparing no cost in adding an extra bling in the tiniest of details.
7. Modern and traditional stationery and Invites
Whether it is modern letterpress invitations, animated cards, scroll type of invitations, save-the-date video invites or the infusion of other modern and traditional printing techniques, the wedding stationery is getting completely customized to compliment any wedding style.
6. Elaborate Dessert tables
Elaborate dessert tables are actually becoming the focal point at receptions. Wedding confectionary experts are being roped in to achieve the perfect dessert tables. Colourful meringues, pastries and macaroons are becoming the highlight of wedding menus.
5. Jewellery for grooms
Why should girls have all the fun? Brides-move over as the grooms are also saying hello to Indian wedding jewellery and accessories. Bold, vintage and ‘hatke’ pieces which help add a style statement are becoming a necessity in the Indian groom’s wedding day attire.
4. Designer heels
More and more brides are going in for designer heels when walking to the mandap before taking their saat pheras.
3. Unique Venues
It is no longer places of worship, mangal karyalays, banquet halls or hotels that are being chosen as wedding venues. Many couples are opting for alternative wedding venues including destination weddings in Rajasthan, Goa and other exotic places at home or abroad.
2. Bright and Bold colours
Bright and bold colours are in, whether it is the bride’s dress, or the overall wedding decor. In fact many brides are going in for non traditional red attire. The ramps this year were all about whites, beige and other unique wedding colours and 2014 weddings reflected this trend.
1.Pre wedding shoot at exotic locales
Couples were seen going in for elaborate pre-wedding or engagement shoots; some even getting up at early hours to travel to scenic locales in time for sunrise. some bold ones are even opting for underwater shoots. These ideas have made for some amazing and highly memorable pics for reminding couples of the romantic pre-wedding phase.
