‘Maid of Honour’, ‘Bridesmaid’ and ‘Bachelorette Party’ -up until now, these were all foreign concepts. However, this is not the case today. That being said; coming up with ideas to suit both Indian and western cultures in these aspects could seem a bit difficult. Also, you might not be the only girl helping your sister or best friend with her wedding prep. So you naturally MUST coordinate with other ladies who are important to the would-be-bride. Nevertheless, you can also take on this mighty task singlehandedly and sail through with lots of praise from the guests and the  bride herself.

  1. Invites & invitees

During the numerous night outs and chat sessions with the bride, you could try to find out about women who play a very important role in her life. Make a note mentally and jot down these names . After you’ve made this list, try and bring up the names to understand whether the bride wants them at her hen party or not. As for the Invites, you can get them printed or you can do them yourself. As the guest list for a bachelorette party is usually small, you can manage creating the invites all by yourself.

  1. Timing

The timing of the party is crucial. Have this bachelorette bash at least 15-20 days before the wedding. This party is a memorable experience for her-so make sure that  the bride will have the time of her life. At the same time, you don’t want her to look miserable owing to the lack of sleep and nor would you want her to miss out on her beauty/hair/shopping sessions. Hence, do check her schedule before you finalize the date for the party.

  1. Place

The venue of the party is naturally very important. You could plan to go to a club, dance the night away and then retire to a hotel room. You could spend the day at a spa or resort. You could go hiking or rock climbing if the bride is the sporty kind. You could also rent out a bungalow or a flat. Whatever the place, it must be comfortable and big enough to accommodate all the guests.

  1. Party favours/Customised Accessories

A great idea is to create customised t-shirts for the bridal party. You could get ‘Bachelorette Party’, ‘Bride’s Best Friend’, etc. printed on the t-shirts. You can get sashes made like the ones shown in the picture above. Tiara for the bride is also a way to make her feel special. You could also give out party favours. These could include a small kit containing things like a nail polish, lipstick, tweezers, make-up remover, etc.

  1. Food

Choosing the food for the bachelorette party can be an uphill task. The bride might be on a diet and could be starving herself to look fit. She even might have stopped eating fried foods and might only eat sweets moderately. However, there are some brides who like to use the  bachelorette party as one occasion where they can forget the diet and cheat a bit. So do find out if she is okay eating fried foods like pakodas, French fries and chocolates, cupcakes, candy bars etc .To play it safe, you can include a mix of healthy and ‘not-so-healthy’ items to cater to all needs.

  1. Theme for the party

Think of what the bride really enjoys. Plan the party around her interests and hobbies. She could be a fitness freak, Bollywood fan, music lover, etc. Each interest can be turned into a theme for the party.
