Best Ways to Re-use your Wedding Lehenga

By  |

In India, we treat our wedding dress like a sacrosanct piece, and preserve it for a lifetime. However, these exorbitantly expensive dresses keep lying deep down in the closets, and are never touched again. No one likes to wear them again, because they find them too heavily embellished, or because they do not want to repeat their bridal look. However, with a little smart work, you can re-use your wedding lehenga, and give it a totally new look.

Here are a few simple ways in which you can re-use your wedding lehenga:

Most wedding lehengas come with heavily embellished dupattas. You can use these dupattas over a plain suit, lehenga, or tie it like a half-saree over a plain skirt.

You can create a modern look with your wedding lehenga by teaming up the skirt with a plain blouse, tank top, or a corset.

If you find your skirt a little too embellished you can hide a part of it by wearing a plain, long sheer jacket over it. Not only will the jacket make it look less gaudy, but it will also add a fresh look to it.

Take it to a designer, and get the skirt made into an anarkali suit. It will completely change the look of the dress, and make it more wearable.

If the lehenga has become too old, but the embroidery has still not lost its sheen and quality, you can take it to a designer, and get the embroidery patched on to a new dress.
