Bridal Gown Trends For 2014

By  |

There’s something breath-taking about a gorgeous wedding gown and when a bride wears one that fits her well and looks great, one can bet that all eyes will be only on her. As fashionistas like to point out; bridal wedding gown trends are simply recycled and there’s a good chance that something that was considered hot a decade ago will re-surface again. If that’s true, then going by the bridal wedding gown trends that have been predicted for 2014, it looks as if everything vintage is now in vogue. So, if you’re a lucky girl who has decided to wear a wedding gown on her special day, here are a few ways in which you can look both trendy and pretty:

Once upon a time, brides didn’t think beyond pristine pure white when it came to choosing the colour of a bridal gown. Last year saw small but definite hints of ‘blush and bashful’ pink shades, cream, off-white, ivory and pastel wedding gown shades but this year, pink is making a much more defined appearance. Rose shades in particular are considered ideal because they are both feminine and easy on the eye whereas darker shades may not be appropriate for a solemn ceremony. Many brides choose to pair soft pink gowns with a nude make-up look. White-gold gowns and champagne coloured bridal gowns are also quite popular.

Every bride is different and going with a figure hugging or flowing gown may not be every bride’s slice of wedding cake, so that’s why peplum gowns are a great idea to consider. In fact, we saw peplum gowns make an entry last year as well and considering that they fit a range of body types, it looks like we’ll be seeing them throughout the year as well. A peplum wedding gown has the right stress of design but for a more dramatic look, it can also be paired with lace, beading and soft embroidery. Ditch the traditional veil and wear this with a sexy hat or a tiara.

Sleeves make a big comeback this year and are such a welcome changefrom last year’s bridal gown trends. Full or long sleeves made from lace or from materials like chiffon will fall well are in vogue, again partly because of the vintage era effect. If long sleeves aren’t really your style, then opt for cap sleeves but make sure that they suit your body type and also the wedding gown that you wear.

Finally, an all important detail that’s often missed when hunting for the right bridal gown- a low back. That’s right; low backs and going backless are hot and trending this year because as experts put it – a bride’s back is what the audience sees when the ceremony is taking place and a backless gown looks incredibly sexy. But if going backless is a bit much for you, then stick to a low back that you’re comfortable with or opt for a backline that has more embroidery and lace detail.
