Mysore

The Mysore Palace is a must see place. It is a majestic structure that should be top in your list of places to see. It is the official residence of the Royal family of Mysore – the Wadiyars. Though Mysore is often referred to as the “City of Palaces”, the term Mysore Palace refers to the largest and the most opulent of all its surviving palaces called the Amba Vilas Palace. It blends together Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic styles of architecture.

Brindavan Garden is famous for being location for the cult comedy film Padosan. The musical and dancing fountains are very popular among tourist.  the garden extends over an area of 60 acres and it is laid out in the three terraces.

Chamundi Hills has the temple of Chamundeshwari. She slayed the all powerful demon Mahishasura. You can also see the brightly painted statue of Mahishasura. There is a 5 meter tall (16 feet) stature of Nandi (Bull), the mount of Lord Shiva.

Ooty

Botanical Garden is a not be missed spot. It is perfect for a honeymoon couple looking for some Bollywood style romance in lush green scenic spot. It is spread over 22 hectares ascending the slopes on the hill. This garden also houses a 20 million year old fossil tree, a monkey’s puzzle tree – monkeys can’t climb this tree and an Italian – style garden.

Rose Garden is another must see romantic place. this garden has the largest collections of roses in the country, around 3600 varieties of roses like Hybrid Tea Roses, miniature rose, Floribunda, Ramblers, etc. It is amazing to see roses of unusual colors like black, green that are so rare and many more varieties of roses that will captivate your senses.

You can get a panoramic view of the whole scenic city of Ooty from Doddabetta Peak. It is the highest point in the district. It is a great place to enjoy nature at its best.

Tea Estate, Coonoor

When travelling to Ooty do not miss a day trip to Coonoor. Coonoor is only a few kilometres away from Ooty and has acres and acres of tea plantations. Sim’s Park, Lamb’s rock, Laws falls and Dolphin’s Nose point are some important point of attractions in Coonoor.
