By  |

What can be a better way of getting to know each other while enjoying blissful togetherness than sailing through the labyrinths of Kerala backwaters? The palm fringed canals here offer amazing views of the lush green paddy fields, vegetation, village life and of course its mesmerizing sunsets. The gentle waves of water soothe your ears while the cool tropical breezes fill the air with a subtle romanticism. Perfect for the newly weds who want to spend their honeymoon in the lap of nature with absolute privacy: the houseboats which once used to be rice barges, offer an ideal nest for  love-birds. Now, before you set out for your Honeymoon in Kerala backwaters, here are the list of things you will definitely need in your bag.

For her:

  • One or two pairs of jeans or cotton trousers or capris -note that the temperature drops a bit after sunset, so full length pants are needed to keep legs warm.

  • One gorgeous cocktail dress for the evening parties or dinners.
  • Two pairs of colorful shorts.
  • One swimwear. Bikinis won’t be required unless you plan to explore some beaches in Kerala on your way back.
  • One or two sarongs. They can be used as cover-ups as well. Hence, quite useful.
  • A pair of comfortable sandals for walking on board, another for going out and exploring villages.
  • A pair of nice evening shoes for the formal dinners.
  • Accessories matching all formal and casual dresses as you will not have a choice to buy them from local shops. Remember, you will be travelling through backwaters passing through fields, villages and mangrove forests. They may not have the right stock for you.

  • Umbrellas if it’s monsoon.
  • Toiletries and medical kit. Once again, pack everything that you need.
  • No white shoes.
