So, the big day that you have been dreaming of ever since you were a little girl is just one day away and although you should ideally be sleeping with a smile on your face, you find yourself chewing away at your fingernails and worrying if you are making the biggest mistake of your life. After all, from tomorrow onwards you are going to wake up next to a different person for the rest of your life and let’s be honest- marriage is the start of a new chapter in life.

Bride to be, here’s where you take a deep breath and count from 1 to 5 as you feel your stress levels come down. Feeling jittery and all over the place is only natural for a bride and yes even for grooms, but here’s how you can beat those dreadful wedding day nerves one night before you say I Do:beat-wedding-day-nerves

Listen to music. There’s a reason why music is such a proven stress buster and that’s because it can help lull you into a composed state of mind. Stay away from any head banking rock music and go with romantic numbers to relax you or better still, instrumental music. And as you feel better, reading a few pages of a good book or flipping through a magazine is also a good idea.

Talk it out. No, try not to call your bridesmaids who may be catching up on their beauty sleep themselves. But if you spend some time talking with a sibling or even with your mother over a nice cup of hot chocolate or coffee, you will feel so much better. Ask them how they felt before they get married and to relate any funny stories to you. You’ll soon realise that wedding day nerves can happen to anybody!

No parties. Friends may come over and urge you to drink one glass of wine or have a cocktail, but say a firm no. The last thing you want is to go to bed groggy eyed because your senses are all over the place and to wake up with a hangover as well. Try to get to bed early and avoid having any late night conversations or even dinner.beat-wedding-day-nerves

Delegate. If you have last minute ‘to- do’ tasks that you weren’t able to complete on your own, don’t sweat the small stuff. Now is the perfect time to ask your friends and family to help you out. Delegate the right task to the right person and before you know it, the job will get done without you having to take the stress.
