Indian Groom Series- Western Wedding Wear

By  |

Western wear for grooms was traditionally associated with Christian Weddings, but not anymore! Thanks to designers who are working on bringing an Indian touch to western wear, the western suit is back and is a highly versatile and fashionable piece to wear at any Indian ceremony.

Bandhgala: Also known as the Jodhpuri suit, this is a great example of East meets West. This suit is traditionally made from silk and is a great option for grooms who like to keep things simple yet elegant. The Nehru collar adds a formal touch to the suit and is often embroidered as well. Unlike sherwanis or an achkan, heavy embellishments are never used in a bandhgala. Often, the colour of the collar contrasts with the colour of the coat.

Classic Suit: There’s a reason why this look is called classic and that’s simply because it never goes out of style. The jacket is usually black in colour whereas the shirt worn is either white or a pastel shade. Wear this as a buttoned up look or team the shirt up with an eye- catching striped tie. Even the best man at your wedding will look dashing in one!

Suits with Tie: Grooms who like a bit of colour can play with some interesting colour combinations with this western wear. For example, a light mauve shirt, a purple tie and a dark grey jacket would look really smart. Or go with a white jacket, a light blue shirt and a tie of a darker blue shade. Alternatively, you could ditch the tie altogether and opt for a smart bow-tie instead.
