Bride and groom

Dr. Jagruti Singh and Ravi Katiyar

We met

On 3rd Dec 2017, it was a meeting through a matrimonial site. We had an arranged marriage.

Our proposal

He proposed to me on the beach of Dwarka – a divine place I have loved since childhood.

Our wedding theme/colours..

I have always loved maroon. So my lehenga was maroon and my husband color-coordinated accordingly.

My dress…

I was inspired by many of Sabyasachi brides and decided to go in for a velvet maroon lehenga with green jewellery. I shopped for my jewellery from Ratanpole -a  famous market in Ahmedabad.

My hair and makeup…

It was all done and decided by Studio Rupantar, Lucknow.

His suit…

He brought his sherwani from Manyavar, Baroda.

Our ceremony…

We had a sangeet party one day before the wedding. On the wedding day, we had the baraat agman, bride’s entry, and the Varmala followed by rituals that went on through the night.

We chose our venue because…

we choose this lovely Chancellor Club in Lucknow. As it was a winter wedding which was to go through the night, we wanted an enclosed cozy place with a garden view. They also provided us with great rooms for the guests and their food is delicious.

Our menu…

We included all the north Indian dishes like Punjabi vegetable curries, paneer, parathas, naans and puris… We also had an assortment of Indian, Chinese, and continental starters.

My favourite part of the wedding day…

When I walked towards my groom, and also holding my father and brother. That was the best moment – I will cherish it for a long time to come. It was as if: a part of me was holding on but also a part of me that was going to my husband completing my journey as a daughter and now a daughter in law!

My piece of advice for other brides…

Be happy – everyone will give you advice, but in the end, do what you want to do. Have fun!
