Manish Malhotra, the famous fashion designer from Bollywood dedicated his debut fashion show in UK to the girl child. The fashion extravaganza was held in association with Rivaage Boutique at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Feb 23. The profit collected from the sale of the show tickets went to The Angeli Foundation which is a charity that works to ‘Save the Girl Child’ in India. Manish has been working for the betterment of women in India through shows for NGO’s like ‘Mijwan’ and now it’s for ‘The Angeli Foundation.’
The Bollywood actresses, Urmila Mandotkar and Parineeti Chopra took to the ramp in Manish Malhotra’s amazing creations. The collection was inspired by inspired by India’s rich culture and heritage, showcasing Kashmiri and Chikankari work in the form of floor length anarkalis dyed in corals, pinks and blues. A number of British-Asian stars like Shivani Ghai, Sunetra Sarker, Jimi Harkishin, Sonali Shah, Adil Ray and Preeya Kalidass also extended their support for the cause.
“I work in an industry where women are revered and respected. I have had the privilege of dressing some of the most beautiful and powerful women in the world, but when I step out of the door and into the stark reality of the streets, I see the injustice and inequality all around me. Without women, I wouldn’t be where I am today and so I want to give what I can back to an organisation like Angeli that celebrates womanhood,” said Manish Malhotra in a statement.
