“I must say planning a honeymoon was a one big task – even bigger than finding a wedding dress to be honest.

Why we chose Goa: Our biggest constraint was time since I was in India for a very short stay. So we had decided to go somewhere in India and after a lot of contemplation we picked GOA! Goa is a very beautiful place filled with lovely and very friendly people. Brides and grooms looking for a laid back and relaxing time especially after a hectic wedding are sure to find Goa perfect.

Where we stayed: We spent  four  days & three nights in a resort called “The Clematis”. They have a lovely staff ; very caring and more than happy to help you. The most fascinating thing about this resort were the rooms. We booked  the Aqua suite which had its own outdoor plunge pool. Another great view was the Candolim beach which is only 5 minutes walking distance from the resort.

How we got there: We flew from Delhi Airport straight to Goa in two hours. We were pleased to experience the most amazing (31 degrees) weather. Naturally, the first thing we did  was change into summer outfits & flipflops and take a long walk along the Candolim beach!
Places to see there:  Apart from The Candolim, we also loved the Anjuna beach, it had a sophisticated crowd also great food (veg as well as non-vegetarian) . You can hire a car or a bike for a whole day for about  INR 300 to 400 and then sky is your limit….!
There is a lot to explore in Goa.. Beaches, Churches, market stalls  and ofcourse the different restaurants serving a wide variety of cuisines!

A word of caution:  Being a tourist spot, the shopkeepers are bound to try and rip you off so do try to be good in bargaining everytime, be it renting stuff, or buying things at the flea markets and so on. Better still, do talk to the hotel staff to get a general idea about things and approximate prices etc.
My advice for couples planning a Goa Honeymoon: The only thing I would say to couples planning a Goa Honeymoon is that do try to ensure booking for atleast  4 nights & 5 days as you do lose one whole day in travelling, depending where you are.
We are soon be going to Europe but before that the next honeymoon spot in India would be Kerela !”
