Pranav + Ananta – A Forest Wedding in Shimla!

By  |

When you have a beautiful wedding venue in a forest in Shimla, then you know you are in for some gorgeous photographs!

Full names of bride and groom

 Ananta Thakur and Pranav Verma

We met…

We were introduced to each other by our parents. I was working in Bangalore and he has been living in Sydney.

Our proposal…

It wasn’t some Bollywood proposal, but yeah since we met, we found a lot of common topics to talk about! We have completely opposite opinions on most of them. And we knew we never wanted to stop arguing with each other.
Although the official proposal happened when we were having tea on a hilltop restaurant in a small hill station named Barog. That was super Bollywood !!!

Our wedding theme/colors…

It had to blend well with the forest backdrop.

My dresses

Poshak Chandigarh

My hair and makeup…

Brenda Dewan, Shimla

His suit

MJ Bale, Sydney

What our bridal party wore

All traditional bold colored suits and sarees

Our ceremony

We had many events including Mehandi, Swagat , Welcoming the baraat , phere , vidai and vadhu pravesh with geet sung by local women. All events were accompanied by lip-smacking food and people dancing to songs and pahadi group performances. We also had the Talwar dance during the baraat which was the highlight of the event.

We chose our photographer because

Lenscaged Production Photography. We knew we wanted to cover the traditional and cultural part of our events and they have expertise in it.

We chose our venue because

It had to be a winter wedding. It had to be in a palace and It had to be in Shimla. So we knew we are getting married in Woodville Palace, Shimla In December.

Our menu

Typical North Indian dishes with a pinch of pahadi flavors.

Our honeymoon…

We always wanted to see Istanbul; especially the hot air balloons in Cappadocia. We spent 10 days in Turkey covering palaces, mosques, grand bazaars, cave suites in Cappadocia, Bosphorus cruises with Turkish tea all the time!

My favorite part of the wedding day…

When we danced to our favorite song: looking into each other eyes, beautifully dressed in palace’s lawn surrounded by tall deodar trees among our families and friends .. I never knew such level of happiness exists!!

My piece of advice for other brides…

It’s true!! It is indeed the most special day of your life so enjoy it to the fullest; every moment of it!

Wishing the beautiful couple a very happy married life ahead! Share your wedding/engagement pics with our readers! Send your photographs and vendor details to us on dipa@weddingsonline.in!
