Raghav + Jiya – 4 Day Wedding with Non-stop Fun!!

By  |

“To get the full value of joy, you must have someone to divide it with” Marc Twain. Says bride Jiya, ‘Raghav and I lived in two different parts of the world. But fate wanted us to meet, and now we are happily married and settled in Delhi’. Check out Jiya and Raghav’s 4-day wedding ceremony with non-stop fun!

Couple

Jiya Chadha & Raghav Sarin

We met

Raghav was working in Malaysia while I have been living abroad in Europe for most of my life – but fate brought us together and we are happily married in Delhi.

Our ceremony

Our Punjabi wedding was 4 days of non-stop fun, of sharing joy & celebrating love. The bonding and union of two families brought all the warmth that was needed during the Delhi Winters. My husband and I organized major aspects of the wedding and made sure we were involved in every little decision and loved seeing it all turn out well! We had people fly in from various parts of the world, considering I have grown up in Europe & Dubai and Raghav was working in South East Asia and we couldn’t be more grateful and happy to see everyone celebrate with us.

Kick-Off lunch

This event was for close family & friends at The Barn. It was a relaxing afternoon with a barn theme & a horse wishing us best of luck! I wore a custom-made fully-sequined saree with velvet tube blouse from Xoaan.

Cocktail night in the chilly Delhi winter

We began with a traditional chunni & ring ceremony and went on to partying, dancing and eating till 4 in the morning. The best part was seeing my grandparents dance in joy together. The décor was magical & camp-like and brought warmth to the bitter cold with the plethora of candles, whites & canopies. I wore a customized velvet lehenga and my mom-in-laws wedding chunni and heritage jewelry embedded Basra pearls and Burmese rubies.

Our mehendi

This was a colorful brunch with yellow marigolds everywhere & a dash of aqua. I always envisioned a poolside Mehendi so while most brides hate the process, I absolutely loved getting my Mehendi put by the poolside with the strong winter sun shining right on. What we thought will be a brunch, wrapping up early, eventually ended up as a drunch as our families & young ones danced away with dhol, Bollywood and some good old classic rock. The excess of cheer, beer, and love was unmatched and makes my heart full even today. My gold jewelry for the Mehendi was the problem child, as I find it very hard to find good gold jewelry. But once I found the jhumkas at Sri Ram Hari Ram, there was no turning back! I fell in love and got the choker customized from Calcutta to match the jhumkas.

Wedding

The morning started with a bit of a panic as it started pouring a few hours prior to the Anand Karaj – but I’ve been told it’s a blessing from the Gods! Our amazing décor team quickly moved the set up inside and by the time the baraat came, everything was ready indoor and the sun was out and shining. Thanks to the indoor setup, the Anand Karaj was very solemn, intimate and full of positive vibes. So win-win! My lehenga was an amalgamation of my favorites: A Pista Green color, a heavy Banarasi dupatta, and a net second dupatta. I wanted something that is classy, traditional, and yet fresh for a morning winter wedding. My jewelry was an old heritage choker piece that I selected from Shri Ram Hari Ram (Aurobindo) just the day after my Roka. I doubled it up with a longer pearl & Polki neckpiece. My earrings were again my favorite piece, with large polki peacocks around the upper earlobe and rubies as hangings. And I loved my Bride tattoo!

Sundowner reception

After the best morning of my life, we kicked off the finale with a Sundowner Reception. I quickly changed my lehenga into my mom-in-laws reception lehenga (we re-did the blouse to add a little color and break the monotony). The reception was at my new home and ended up being a 12-hour affair. Guests were served lunch, snacks, dinner and we had a gala time! (living up to our hashtag “WebeRAJIng”. Shoutout to The Ranch our caterers, who gave us the most exquisite menu, most delicious food, and unmatched service for every one of our functions.
