Ravi and Sukriti got married in Arya Samaj wedding ceremony with a romantic beige-red wedding theme. Later they headed off to Thailand for a romantic (and adventurous) honeymoon. Today, Sukriti is giving our readers tons of  details for Thailand honeymoon planning ….

“Our trip to Thailand was planned by one of our friends through a popular online travel company. The trip covered two cities- Phuket and Bangkok.  The location of our hotel at Phuket was specially chosen near Patong Beach.

Day 1– Spent in leisure amidst the backdrop of the blue waters of Patong Beach.  We also explored the nearby market area which was a mere walking distance from our hotel.

Day 2– City Tour of Phuket- Sightseeing of Promthep Cape-beautiful peninsula adjacent to the famous Nai Harn Beach, Rawai Beach, Buddha Temple and World Gems Gallery.

Phuket also offers many entertainment and cultural shows such as Siam Show, Simon Cabaret and Fantasia. We spent our evening watching the Simon Show-a transvestite cabaret show.  The performers are so well trained in being feminine that it is hard to make out that they aren’t women.  The show also has a special segment representing cultures of different South Asian countries such as India and Malaysia.  I loved the segment on India where artists from Thailand performed on the Bollywood song “Dhoom Tana” from the movie Om Shanti  Om.

Day 3- The best part of our stay in Phuket was the visit to Phi Phi Islands.  Journey from Phuket to Phi Phi Islands in the Krabi province was through a large speed boat. The crystal clear blue water and the beauty of the secluded cliffs here is beyond words.

Day 4- Arrival in Bangkok.  Since Bangkok is famous for its nightlife, we spent the night exploring a disc close to our hotel.

Day 5- The entire day was spent in discovering numerous exciting animal and bird shows in Safari World-an animal and leisure park in Bangkok. Dolphin Show, Orangutan Show, Elephant Show, Spy War, Jungle Cruise, Cowboy Show are some of the main attractions here.

Day 6– We relived the romance of Titanic with the River Cruise on Chao Pharya River.  The cruise has live music and dance shows for added entertainment.

Day 7– Last day in Bangkok was spent shopping in different (famous) malls of Bangkok such as the MBK Center. Other popular malls here are Central World, Central Embassy and Siam Center.

Important piece of advice for couples planning a Thailand Honeymoon:

  1. Before finalizing  your trip with any of the travel companies, make sure they give you a detailed itinerary of the entire trip. We suffered on this count since the travel company did not give us our itinerary till the last moment which resulted in a clash of two proposed events on the same date.
  2. All vegetarians, please stock up on food items such as puris, paranthas, Maggi noodles, salt, pepper etc since vegetarian food is not easily available in Phuket. The few vegetarian restaurants available are too expensive.  Hotels hardly have any options for vegetarians. Do check with the travel company about the availability of a microwave in the hotel.  Food was not a problem in Bangkok as there are several good Indian restaurants at a reasonable rate. For non-vegetarians on the other hand, Thailand is a heaven.

Happy Honeymooning!
