We met…

We met in school in class 8. We became friends and gradually the relation turned into Love in couple of years.

Our proposal…

He proposed to me in school; simple and honest words from his mouth. It was strange in school uniform but yet sweet and romantic!

Our wedding theme/colours…

We both always wanted our wedding arrangements to be exquisite, elegant and rich. To accomplish that, we chose Orange&Gold as our theme.

My dress…

Since we had decided to marry in a traditional south Indian style ceremony, I preferred a saree for all occasions except for the Dandiya night, where I wore a Golden Yellow and Rani Pink Lehenga embellished with stones and pearls. We purchased all the silk sarees from the famous Babu Shah Traders at Kancheepuram and we picked the designer sarees from Mysore Silk Udyog at Commercial Street, Bangalore.  One was a beautiful shifon  and net saree of neon green and pink which I wore for welcoming the groom. Must say, everyone loved the mesmerizing look! Thanks to Shikar – my best ally in Shopping!!!

My hair and make up…

My makeup was done by Akhila, a very talented freelance makeup artist. She understood our requirement and fulfilled it perfectly. Her work is very elegant and versatile. She gave me a modern/trendy look for the reception and, conversely, made me look completely traditional on my wedding day

His suit…

His suit was designed by our wedding planner. We were very apprehensive while choosing the colours as even a tiny mismatch in the colour coordination would ruin the entire look. Fortunately, we could select the colors that best suited him. We ended up with deep navy blue suit having lustrous chocolate brown lapel. He wore a white shirt with it and yes-he looked perfect for the evening! Also, the traditional doti that is wore on the muhurtham (wedding day) was of pure silk. We made it look richer by getting the gold zari work on the border.

Our ceremony…Our ceremony was a package of tradition, fun and dance. It all began with “Welcoming the groom” ritual – we opted to have ‘Ramayana’ as the theme for this occasion where Dhanush came in and un-strung the bow. All this was done for me,the Bride, just like Lord Rama did for Sita’s hand in marriage. I was sitting hidden, and came forward to welcome him with the flowers. It worked really well!

Following that, we had a traditional Varapooja ritual followed by Dandiya dance. I am truly grateful to our families for being enthusiastic and stepping up to the occasion. It was 3 hours full of music and dancing! In the evening was the Indian Reception which lasted till 12 am . Tiring! Then the big day arrived . The rising sun brought with it new hopes, happiness and excitement. The wedding was purely a traditional affair – including homas, mangalyadharana, vachana, sapthapadi !

We chose our photographer because… Because….. he is more than a photographer! Yes, though we met Sanjeev Mathu as a photographer, he soon became a good friend of ours. Very friendly and an easy going personality. His photography skills are also amazing. I can’t thank him enough for my Portrait Pics ! Also, he has a very talented crew members. As a whole, the team delivered a colourful package- the work was outstanding as he doesn’t just capture photos but also emotions of his subjects.

We chose our wedding coordinator because…

We were in search of a good wedding decorator who would understand our needs and turn them into reality. Luckily, we happen to know La’kiru, a wedding planner in Bangalore. They were very friendly, understanding and helped us in painting our thoughts into reality. Lakshmi Keerti, the head coordinator, also did a very good job in designing my blouses for all occasions!

We chose our venue because…

Our wedding took place in Rajhans Convention Hall. We chose it as it was quite new, had all required facilities along with lodging which was of great help to us as we were expecting many overseas friends.

Our menu…

The complete responsibility was undertaken by my father-in-law who left no stone unturned in making it a lipsmackingly delicious menu for the guests. Our menu included traditional south Indian cuisine, right from Dosas – Akki Rotis to Veg kebab and Pulav. A huge variety of Chats and Desserts also played an important role in the extravagant buffet.  I think the Malpova stole everyone’s heart!

Our honeymoon…

We wanted a peaceful and relaxing location, and what could be better than Maldives? I call it heaven on earth. Clear Water, fresh air, colourful fish, de-stressing spas,  refreshing Yoga in the morning, sun bathing, relaxing by the pool, snorkeling, diving – we did it all! Best trip till date and will always remain special!

My favourite part of the wedding day…

Though the entire wedding as a package was special and memorable, the moment we took the vows and the mangalyadharana was the most special and will always stay close to my heart. It was a once-in-a- lifetime feeling which simply cannot be expressed using words.

My piece of advice for other brides…

Plan, Get Set and Enjoy to the fullest! After all, it’s your most special day!!

Advice:  Most girls  worry about getting ready for the occasion in minimal time for their hair/make-up and look the best on every occasion.  To prep for this, it is important that you pack your dress and accessories properly. A well packed suit-case can do wonders in saving time for you. Have it all ready- from the dress to the shoes to the bindi and pins. Organize everything into compartments/ plastic pouches for each occasion. This will save you tons of time. Good Luck!!
