Real Weddings: Shravya&Erwin’s Blue And Green Wedding Theme By Jude Lazaro Photography

By  |

You are going to love this week’s gorgeous blue and green wedding theme. Bride Shravya followed the tradition of “something blue” by incorporating this stunning palette- a colour combination one  simply cannot go wrong with.

Says their wedding photographer Jude Lazaro of this wedding: “Photographing Shravya and Erwin’s wedding was an experience that reminded me why I love what I do. Their love for each other was palpable and evident in the details and as the day progressed. They had this great vision for a dream wedding which came true with the help of talented wedding planners.

Read on for details of the day from Shravya, our bride…

We met – We met at a Christmas ball in Mangalore in 2009. It all started that night when he came up to me asking me for a dance. We got engaged in December 2013 and tied the knot a year later in December 2014.

Our Proposal – We were never the typical lovey-dovey couple, hence Erwin never planned a proposal per se. Even if he did plan on making one, I was impatient (and rightly so) and more than ready to get hitched to my man.

Our wedding theme/colours – We hardly brainstormed on a theme for the wedding. The whole idea of the blue and green wedding theme came about after Erwin thought of having our birthstones on our engagement rings. And that helped set the theme of the wedding – the colours of our birthstones which are Emerald and Blue.

My dress – Being a no-fuss, and somewhat restless person, I decided to buy a ready-made gown and avoid going through the hassle of getting a bespoke one created. I found what Ii believe was my perfect wedding gown on JJHouse in April 2014 (almost 8 months prior to the wedding) for a very reasonable price. The gown was exactly the same as I saw it online although some alterations for that perfect fit were needed.

My hair and make up – I chose Ira Life, a beauty and spa center in Mangalore. I visited many beauty salons in Mangalore but none of them came close to what Ira had to offer. From ensuring the best products are used and the best service is provided, my experience at Ira was nothing short of amazing. Apart from my hair and make up, my bridesmaids too were given a makeover and everyone looked perfect. The staff at Ira are both cooperative and highly professional. The salon is run by a professional make up artist, Shefali Ballal, who personally ensures she provides the best makeover and beauty experience to her clients.

His suit – Because Erwin is really tall (6’5), we had to custom make his suit. He wanted to go with a vintage, old-school feel and look and hence a bespoke checked suit was made for him. We visited a couple of men’s formal/evening wear stores n Bangalore and were lucky to find the exact material and style Erwin was looking for – at “Prestige-the man store” on commercial road in Bangalore.

What our bridal entourage wore – The bridesmaids outfits were purchased online from Light In The Box where some really pretty bridal entourage gowns and dresses cam be found. The gowns I selected for the bridesmaids fit them perfectly and the dresses themselves were lovely. The best men wore paisley ties which we ordered online from GentlemanJoe. The ties matched the colour of their respective partners’ (bridesmaid) gowns. We decided against suits (with a jacket) for the best men and chose waistcoats instead which was all designed and custom made at “Prestige the man store” in Bangalore.

Our ceremony – We decided to stick to the  Mangalorean tradition that involved the bride changing from her white bridal gown into the traditional “Sado” (Red Sari) that takes place halfway through the wedding reception. We tried a couple of new things at the wedding and found some ideas on Pinterest which were very well executed by our wedding planners.

We chose our photographer because – I had a list of a couple of photographers but was never satisfied with any of them after I contacted them or went through their portfolios-as I had something in mind that I was looking for. I was introduced to Jude through one of our best men and was quite convinced after I spoke to him that he was going to be our wedding photographer. One of the noteworthy things is that Jude is so calm and that really made us comfortable. I believe that its important to be comfortable with your photographer and to trust that s/he will live up to or supersede your expectations. And Jude more than lived up to ours. He did an amazing job during our wedding entourage shoot, as well as on our post-wedding shoot at the Thannirbhavi beach in Mangalore. Both Erwin and I love all of the pictures and were very happy with the result.

We chose our wedding coordinator because – We chose to go with a wedding planner by the name of “Exotica Events”, who were a bunch of relatively new and up-and-coming wedding planners willing to try and experiment with new ideas. From our dealings with them, we found them to be professional and were always in touch responding to all our queries and messages over WhatsApp which was a blessing considering we live in different countries. Dafnal Concessao and Cavin Christopher D’Souza make up the main team that we dealt with. They catered to all the details of the wedding and the nuptials. The complete wedding and Church decor, wedding cake, DJ and the lighting were all taken care by the planners. We chose a vintage car for our wedding which was an Austin 1932 model. We hired our wedding compere from Bangalore, Senek D’souza, who did a good job too. We had planned some new things at the wedding through the compere. For instance, for our wedding toast we had an open toast where anyone from the crowd could come up and speak a few words about the couple.

We chose our venue because – We chose the venue due to personal reasons and sentiments. It was held at the Kulshekar Church open grounds located in Mangalore city. The ground is massively huge by Mangalore’s standards that can accommodate a crowd of 1500 people. However, we had a guest list of 650 people.

Our menu – We chose one of the oldest and famous wedding caterers in Mangalore, Patrao Caterers, as they are not only the favorites, but have constantly lived up to their high standards and great food quality and service that they are known for.

Our honeymoon – Our honeymoon was fun but with a twist. We went on a buddymoon with a couple of friends to Thailand (visited Phuket and stayed at Orchid Novotel, which was in the heart of the busy and crowded Bangala road. Then we flew out to an island called Koh Samui and were put up at the Ark Bar Beach Resort– an amazing hotel with a live DJ and pool party every evening, authentic Thai food and good service. From Thailand we flew out to Singapore and stayed there for 4 nights before we returned to Kuwait – The desert we call home!

My favourite part of the wedding day – Can’t really choose a favourite part. Every bit of my wedding day was special to me.

My piece of advice for other brides – “Stay calm”, Also if anything that happens on the day which is not how you planned it; do not panic as no one knows what you have planned (other than yourself). So continue to smile as all the cameras, and spotlight is on you!
