Saif & Kareena’s Wedding: Truly a Bollywood style Celebration

When two of Bollywood’s most popular celebrities get set to wed, the world expects nothing less than a wedding celebration to remember. When Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor decided to tie the knot, they had a sangeet ceremony, a formal registered marriage ceremony, a nikah ceremony and a post-wedding reception party.

Manish Malhotra, a favourite with Kareena took charge of her wedding trousseau and made Kareena look every inch a princess- one who looked gorgeous in every shade and who also carried each look with élan.  On the other hand, acclaimed designer, Raghavendra Rathore, was the talent behind the classy, simple yet striking outfits that Saif wore.

Sangeet Ceremony: Usually held one day or a few days before the wedding, this is the time when near and dear ones get together to party and just to let their hair down. This sangeet ceremony held on October 14, 2012 however was hosted at Kareena’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai and all efforts were made to keep it as private as possible. Kareena can be seen wearing an orange-yellow lehenga with a gold choli or blouse with her hair neatly styled with a gajra or garland of jasmine. The antique jewellery Kareena wore is apparently the same set she wore for older sister Karisma’s wedding, many years before!

Mehendi Ceremony: The Mehendi ceremony which took place the next day at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai was again a special event because the duo hosted a private dinner for their family members and other close friends. Needless to say, Kareena didn’t disappoint in her gorgeous pink saree and eye-catching contemporary jewellery whereas Saif looked dapper in a tuxedo.

Registration Ceremony: For the registration ceremony held at Saif’s residence in Mumbai, Kareena chose a simple yet classy look. The gorgeous mehendi and red churidaar suit set with minimal jewellery and nude makeup, made her look quite radiant. Saif too went for a ‘no-frills’ look in a grey kurta teamed up with white pyjamas.

Nikah Ceremony: Plenty has been written about how Kareena wanted to wear the gorgeous orange gold gharara complete with gorgeous embroidery for her wedding which was held on October 16, 2012. In the hands of Manish Malhotra however, the re-touched sharara was given quite a few embroidery touch-ups adding to Kareena’s glam quotient. Plus, the Mughal era inspired jewellery pieces only enhanced the overall look. Saif too, looked very regal in an exclusive Raghuvendra Rathore gold Benarsi brocade achkan which he wore with Jodhpuri breeches and a turban.

Post Wedding Reception: Kareena can be seen wearing a gorgeous embellished maroon lehenga paired with a dazzling dupatta, which even had tassels all around. Such attention to detail and the intricate zari work definitely had to be a Manish Malhotra creation! A heavy Kundan neck-piece with green stones and matching ear-rings completes the glamorous look.
