Seven ‘Reel-Life’ Bollywood Brides we Love

By  |

Several Bollywood movies are famous for their depiction of big fat weddings; in fact, these films might have actually inspired many a Big Fat Indian wedding in real life. Today we shall take a look at seven Bollywood beauties who donned the bridal look which inspired, awed and set many trends.

Madhuri Dixit– Madhuri’s bold, fun loving and lovable sister-of-the-bride portrayal in Hum Apke Hain Kaun set many a trend. To mention a few: the royal purple satin sari with its backless blouse in ‘Didi tera….”.,the green outfit in the “Joote do…” number as well as her simple yet stunning yellow-orange Salwar Kurta in the Antakshari sequence-she simply dazzled and made us sigh!

Kajol– Kajol’s characters in two of her popular flicks: Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and DDLJ chose burnt orange Lehengas for the wedding scenes. We think that colour brought out the beauty of her eyes and also perfectly complemented her dusky skin tone. (And we certainly have not forgotten her all-green Mehendi attire which became a huge hit!)

Aishwarya Rai– Perhaps no other Bollywood bride has inspired us as much as our stunning ex-Miss World. Her bridal outfits in Jodha Akbar left us awestruck with their simplicity and beauty and the heavy jewelry (we just love those nose rings!) made from gold, pearls and rubies brought out her ethereal beauty.

Preity Zinta– Preity’s bridal outfit colours in two of her films, Veer Zara and Kal Ho Na Ho were simply a class apart. Apart from the usual traditional reds, pinks and oranges, she is also seen in gorgeous white, blue and purple outfits with zardozi work. (Did we mention those delightful Maang tikkas that captured the imagination of the fashion world?)

Rani Mukherjee–  We simply cannot NOT discuss Rani when it comes to Bollywood brides in ‘reel-life’. (We hear that the star is planning on tying the knot in real life real soon…stay tuned for that one!). Her bridal portrayals in Paheli as well as the romantic Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna were a sensual treat for audiences.

Other honourable mentions: Amrita Rao in Vivaah and Katrina Kaif as the bride in Singh is King are two other mentionable beauties who stunned, awed and inspired us as Bollywood brides.
