Six Important Tips For Healthy Hair!

By  |

Yester years grandmothers would say that the best way to know if a person was healthy or not was from the texture of their hair. If the hair had a nice shine to it, it signified good health but if the hair was brittle and dull, it meant that the person’s diet lacked certain nutrients. If you had to see a dietician in person, he or she would also tell you pretty much the same thing. As an excited bride to be, we’re sure that you have already got your bridal makeup and your ensemble covered for the big day. But what about your crowning mane of glory and what steps are you taking today so that your hair looks its finest tomorrow? Luckily for you, we’ve compiled a list of ready to do little tips for the best looking healthy hair ever:

1. Healthy hair needs protein and iron

Lets start with what you eat. Greasy junk food will show on your face and do nothing for your hair. What you need instead is a healthy intake of protein and iron in your diet so that the cells which can be found in your hair grow at a healthy pace. Food such as yoghurt, cheese, lean meat, nuts and lentils are rich in amino acids which work wonders for healthy hair.

2. Stay out of the sun

You may love the sun but your hair doesn’t! Hair is extremely fragile and constant exposure to the harsh elements of nature will strip your hair of its natural oils and make it both dull and dry. That’s why you should wear a scarf or a hat when stepping out.

3. Check what’s in your shampoo

Don’t be swayed by colourful ads which promise to make your hair appear thicker after just one wash. Clinically speaking, there’s really no product that can work that big a miracle! Opt for paraben and sulphate free shampoos and conditioners because they work gently on your scalp and could reduce hair fall too. If you like to wash your hair every day, your hair products need to be just as gentle.

4. Get rid of product buildup

We girls need a bit of spritz here and there every now and then to keep our hair in place. So if you regularly use hair mousses and gels, make sure you purchase good quality brands. Here’s another tip for healthy hair- don’t go to bed with hair product in your tresses. Make sure that your hair is clean inside out. From time to time, use lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to clear out product build up from scalp.

5. Avoid brushing your hair when wet

Feel that you’re losing more than a 100 strands every day? Well, maybe it has to do with the manner in which you brush your hair. If you choose to comb your hair when it is still wet, chances are that you will have more breakage because that is when the roots of your hair are really weak. Wait till your hair is semi-dried before using a comb or brush.

6. Go for oil massages

Your mom was right about applying hot oil to your scalp and tresses at least once a week. Oiling regularly goes a long way in giving you healthy hair as it acts like a natural moisturing agent and replenishes any lost nutrients.

Follow our tips regularly and your hair wont let you down on your big day!
