Tangerine Tango: Pantone Colour Of The Year 2012

By  |

We recently presented the orange-red-yellow colour palette for our brides and grooms to be . In the mean time,  Pantone announced Tangerine Tango as the Colour of The Year 2012. Now you might say that we are almost at the end of the year; but, since the wedding season is on in full swing here in India, we thought we would inspire our brides-to-be with our Tangerine Tango Mood board.  Tangerine is not quite “orange”- in fact; experts at Pantone feel that it is a fun and lively take on the traditional colours of autumn and adds more depth to regular orange.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute®, Tangerine is “sophisticated, dramatic and seductive”. The colour is reminiscent of hues and shades of sunset and can infuse radiant energy and warmth in any wedding decor. It can also form a ‘magnetic and high-impact’ feel.  In Indian weddings, orange colour has great significance- it symbolises spirituality, holiness and is also considered highly auspicious.

In cosmetics too, tangerine is a winner on account of its versatility. This shade can add a sultry flair to the bride’s lips, cheeks and nails. Eye shadow in this colour is unexpected and dramatic-and when paired with Indian eyes (that are typically brown in colour) it can bring out an amber cast.

Several Indian Fashion designers have also experimented with this fun colour in their spring and autumn collections.

We hope that you find these mood-boards  utilizing the Pantone Colour of The year inspirational. On that note, we leave you with some Tangerine “Food for thought”:
