Wedding Hairstyles: Trends and Inspiration from Indian Bridal Fashions Shows of 2014
While we were busy ogling at the jewellery and gorgeous lehengas on the runways, the major fashion shows held over the past few months also actually marked many trends in wedding hairstyles for 2014. If you are still undecided as to how to style your hair for the wedding day, there is tons of inspiration coming your way.
Hair Accessories
Hair accessories in rhinestones, pearls, crystals, diamonds, brooches, flowers and matching crystal embellishments that suit the lehengas took centre stage. It seems that traditional hair accessories like the Matha pattis and maang teekas will never ever go out of fashion.
We loved Sunny’s gorgeous asymmetric three-tiered pearl maatha patti with matching hand-pieces, earrings and necklace. Kanagana’s Greek Goddess inspired hair accessory was a bit too elaborate for our taste, but brides wanting a bolder look could opt for it.
Braided Hairdos
The braid is very much back and it is no longer restricted to the symmetric centre but has shifted base sideways. A messy braid seems to be the hot favourite as we saw it not only in the BMW India fashion week 2014, but also at the Indian International Jewellery Week.
Sagarika Ghatge portrayed a side braid with tons of flyaway hair at the IIJW recently.
The messier the better
A messy bed head look also seems to work this season. Shaggy, fly away pieces like the one sported by Raveena actually call attention to her beautiful 2 tiered mathaa patti. Attempt this flyaway hairstyle for a relaxed Sangeet or Mehendi night.
Call attention to the cat eyes with a messy version of the beehive updo.

Elegant Sleek and Shiny hairdos
We also saw some very elegant buns on the runway. The classic ballerina buns were twisted, braided and pulled into low or high knotted buns that created a very chic, elegant and romantic look.
Vintage Inspired
Timeless and classically romantic, the bridal market is always going to love these vintage style hairdos. The retro inspired style sported by Amyra Dastur reminds us of Bollywood heroines of the yesteryears.
