The Indian skipper tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Sonam Bhattacharya last Monday. Dressed in a traditional wedding attire by Varun Bahl, the groom looked dapper in white sherwani with floral motifs while the bride stole away the limelight in a bright red Benarasi sari draped in traditional Bengali style.
Sonam is the daughter of ex ace Mohun Bagan defender Subrata Bhattacharya and a business management graduate from Scotland.
The couple got married in a ceremony that followed both Bengali and Nepali traditions as we can see the groom arriving to the wedding venue on a ghodi dressed in traditional Nepali attire.
Held at the posh Ordnance Club in Kolkata, the star striker’s wedding was attended by the football fraternity as well as celebrities from the film industry, the CM of West Bengal among others.
Very recently, the footballer got engaged to Sonam in Gurgaon a day after Bengaluru FC’s win over Mumbai City FC in ISL (Indian Super League).
Reportedly, the couple is planning to have their wedding reception in Bengaluru on Christmas Eve this year.
