Wedding Planning Making You Exhausted? 6 Ways To Boost Energy

By  |

Attention lovely brides to be: we know you are drained, we know you are tired. We know you have not had much sleep. We understand and we sympathize. If you are yawning before your screen right now: read on! We have 6 instant energy boosting tips for you that do not involve caffeinated beverages!

1. Deep breathing exercises

When you are stressed, you tend to inhale in shorter breaths. This means that your body (and especially your brain) is not getting enough oxygen. So sit in a quiet place. Keep your neck and back straight. Now close your eyes. Make sure you turn your phone to silent mode. Deep breathe now for up to 4 slow counts-hold the breath for 4 slow counts and exhale for 6 counts. Do 3 sets of this every day (if you have time, do 3 sets twice a day). This will relax your body and mind and make you feel instantly recharged.

2. Commit a random act of charity

Seriously- nothing beats stress and negativity as much as kindness does. Research has actually proven that being kind to a stranger (or to someone you do not know very well too) can release feel good endorphins and make you feel happier. So try to commit to doing something nice for someone, everyday, no matter how busy you are.

3. Load up on Omega 3 essential fatty acids

Omega 3 essential fatty acids are necessary for an active body and attentive mind. If you are a non vegetarian, you should be able to get this essential nutrient by eating fatty fish, seafood etc. For vegetarians, we recommend flax seeds (alsi), fish oil supplements and walnuts.

4. Hydrate!

One of the main reasons why you may be feeling low in energy could be dehydration. Simply by increasing your water intake, you can see a major difference in not just how you look, but also how you feel. So, stay hydrated always by carrying a bottle of water with you wherever you go.

5. Self massage

If your mom or sister can give you a relaxing head and neck massage- it will do wonders to your energy levels. You can, if time permits, even go to a salon for a massage. If not, try this simple acupressure massage at home:

  • Press the small indentations at the base of the skull where your neck begins. Keep the pressure on for 5 minutes. Release. Repeat. Move on the shoulders and massage them.
  • Next, press the soft portion at the center of the feet. Keep this pressure on for 4-5 minutes. Release. Repeat 3-4 times. Reflexology or foot massage can relieve tension in the body since the acupressure points are connected to many major organs.

6. Yoga and meditation

30 minutes of daily Yoga can make you feel fresh and recharged. You can start with some simple asanas-stretches-body rotations etc as a warm up. Then go on to do sun salutations or Surya Namaskar. Here are the detailed steps for surya namaskar. Remember: breathe in as you go up, breathe out as you go down. Meditate for 10 minutes following 12 surya namaskars. See how wonderful you feel after this exercise!

Try these 6 steps the next time you feel tired and drained and see the difference!
