How To Plan An Adults Only Wedding-Part 1

If you are serious about hosting an adults only wedding, then we’re here to guide on you on the do’s and dont’s of having a successful wedding. One of the first decisions you need to make about hosting an adults only wedding is to decide exactly which parts of the wedding you would prefer to remain child free. Most couples prefer to allow only adults to witness the actual wedding ceremony as children could be a serious distraction.

Another alternative to asking guests to leave their young ones at home, would be to create a children’s only play area which can be either held indoors or outdoors. Choose a wedding hall or an indoor arena which is a bit far from the place where your ceremony will be held. It’s important to understand that asking little ones to stay quiet and to behave is almost impossible since children by nature are very hyper and restless. However, if you can make arrangements for a clown or an entertainer who can devise little games to keep them occupied, you don’t have to worry about the ceremony at all. In fact, we would suggest going a step further and setting up a kids’ treats area complete with all the goodies that children love. This also takes care of any hunger pangs and lets you and your guests enjoy a fuss free wedding.

It’s likely that the biggest resistance to your adults only wedding is likely to come from your relatives than from colleagues and other friends. After all, it does sound a tad shocking that your little nieces and nephews aren’t allowed to be a part of your important day. It is always best to call up your relatives in person and to explain your part of the story. Or else, take the easier route and say that due to some budget constraints you have had to re-plan your entire guest list. We think your supportive relatives are certain to understand you without making any harsh judgements.

We suggest going for an all inclusive wedding reception irrespective of age. To put it practically, many couples would actually hesitate to attend a wedding reception if they are informed that their little ones aren’t allowed, simply because it’s an unwritten rule that wedding related parties tend to close quite late. You need to play fair and to ensure that any rule with regard to children is applicable to every single guest at the party irrespective of how closely or not they are related to you. Imagine the scene that could take place if a few guests find that other children were invited to the party but theirs weren’t! Either include little ones in the wedding reception along with their parents or don’t invite them at all.

Yes, hosting an adults only wedding means stepping on a few people’s toes, but if it sounds like the perfect wedding to you, then there’s no reason why you can’t have one.
