Real Weddings: Breathtakingly Beautiful Bengali Wedding By Sadanand Photography

By  |

We have a beautiful Bengali wedding for our loyal readers this morning! Aniruddha and Amrita’s ceremony is full of fabulous fun and flair while also being packed with rituals. Their Sangeet ceremony shows the zeal and enthusiasm from all involved and is a true celebration of the couple’s whirlwind romance.

All images have been captured (gorgeously) by the creative team at Sadanand Photography.

We met: Aniruddha and I were introduced by our parents and we spoke to each other for 6 months before we met and decided to get married. Our’s is an arranged alliance. However, we became friends before we decided to get married and become life partners. When he visited me in Bangalore, I went ahead and asked him if he would want to get married and he said yes immediately.

Our ceremony: We wanted a simple Bengali wedding with all rituals and fun festivities. I think the highlight of our ceremony was the Sangeet. Usually, Bengali weddings do not have Sangeet, but given the number of dancers and singers in our families we decided to have one nevertheless.

The venue: Our wedding was held at Vivanta by Taj (MG Road, Bangalore) and the Reception was at the ITC Windsor (Golf Course Road, Bangalore). We had been to many other hotels but the staff at The Taj and ITC were really helpful and they organised our wedding with a personal touch. They understood our requirements and catered to our specific needs. We sat down with the chefs and planned the menu and also had a tasting before the event.

My dress: For the wedding, I chose a traditional Bengali red Benarsi sari that I picked up at one of Kolkata’s oldest and most popular stores (Mohini Mohan Kanjilal and Sons) and coincidentally my mom had bought her wedding Benarasi from there too!

For the reception, I went with a blue lehenga that I picked up at Varsidhi, Bangalore. My jewelry for the wedding was bought from P.C Chandra, Bow Bazaar Kolkata and the for the reception I wore a Diamond and blue Saphire set from Sri Ganesh Diamonds and Jewelery, Bangalore.
My make up: My makeup artist was Sangita Raj from Lakme Absolute Salon, MG Road and she is one of the best in Bangalore. I choose her as she was also my beauty consultant for my pre bridal activities at the salon.

Our photographer: I met with several photographers before my wedding, however, Sadanand Photography was amazing since they never over promised and, most importantly, Sada made me look like myself. I was looking for a simple photographer who would capture me and not try to make me a larger than life or too glamorous (I just don’t think that is who I am.) Also, he and his team were extremely friendly and my family loved him.
Our wedding planner/coordinator-We did not hire a wedding coordinator. Me and my parents and my sister-in-law planned the wedding in its entirety as we wanted everything to be as per our requirements.

Groom’s outfit-For the reception he wore a Geoffrey Benne Tuxedo that he picked up from Nordstrom in Boston.
My favorite part of the wedding– The sangeet, definitely, as both the families really had a great time and I got to see a side of my husband that I had never seen before. He was extremely happy and dancing to all the songs and beaming with excitement.
Our honeymoon: We honeymooned at Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
