The Pros of wearing contact lenses on your wedding day:

  • The most obvious advantage of wearing contact lenses on your wedding day is that they allow you to show off your eyes. Whilst this may not seem like a big deal, you may change your mind after seeing a photograph of you staring lovingly into your spouse’s eyes unmarred by a clunky glasses frame, which may not even match what you’re wearing.

  • Contact lenses also enable more natural vision, as there is no distance between your eye and the lens (which you experience with glasses). This makes walking on uneven surfaces a piece of cake, and allows you to walk (or run!) confidently down the aisle.

  • Contact lenses don’t fog up, which can be a problem with if there is a big temperature difference between the building, where you’re getting married and outside environment.

The Cons of wearing contacts lenses on your wedding day:

  • Your contact lenses may unfortunately irritate your eyes, resulting in your eyes stinging, burning, itching, drying out, watering or turning red, none of which you need on your big day.
  •  Contact lenses may react negatively with make-up such as lash building mascara or certain eyeliners, which can be a big problem for brides who really want to look their best on their wedding day. If you choose the wrong kind of make-up you may consequently be left with bloodshot puffy eyes, which means you need to test every make-up in advance; a difficult task if you’re having your make-up professionally applied on the day.
  •  If you think you might cry on your wedding day contacts may also not be the best choice, as your lenses may cloud up due to the proteins in your tears, causing everything to appear hazy. There is also the danger that you’ll actually wipe a contact lens out of your eye whilst wiping away tears. The last thing that you want to be doing in the middle of your romantic wedding ceremony is crawling around on the floor searching for a contact lens!

So these are a few pros and cons of contact lenses. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do comment!
