1) Tell us a bit about Kinjal’s Makeovers. How did you start out in this field? Where did you train?
Kinjals Makeovers was not something I had planned. It just started more as a necessity 8 years ago so I could provide for my small babies. I had no money to train at a renowned institute. In fact; I borrowed a small amount and started self learning. Makeup is something I have always loved and enjoyed applying on myself. I used to try different techniques in school and college. But I hardly knew how to hold a professional grade brush.. so when I first lay my hands on one.. it was a different high altogether!
I later found a teacher and learned as much as I could. I also started taking small work assignments in my circle. But mostly I offered to work for free in hope I’d get recognised. My early clients were extremely pleased with my sense of style and my techniques. As a result, my work picked up quickly and I ended up assisting a lot of makeup gurus in the film industry. In those early days, I worked very hard, hardly noticing the time I was putting in and that was where I picked up the art of minimalist and graceful makeup.Later, I had the good fortune to train at the London School of Makeup. Today by God’s grace and all this hard work, I believe I have made a mark for myself in my field.. My work is my passion and I only work for client satisfaction. I firmly believe that money follows, once you have earned a name!
2) What products do you use?
I only use only international makeup products such as Becca, Benefit, Huda Beauty, Fenty Beauty, Bobbi Brown,Tartes, Too Faced, Chanel, Dior, Temptu Airbrush Makeup and so on. The list is really long.
3) Do you offer bridal makeup trials?
Yes, at Kinjals we encourage trial makeup. This ensures that each client gets exactly what she has in mind.
4) How are your bridal makeup packages priced?
Our bridal makeup packages start from INR 15000 to INR 30,000. We have a wide range of options to serve different clients needs.
5) What sets you apart from other MUAs? What is your USP?
My motto is to work as sincerely as one can and with complete fire and passion, without running behind money. From my personal experience, I know that money follows and that you don’t have to run behind it. Client satisfaction should be the ultimate motto.
6) How do you address specific skin care issues like dark skin tone, acne etc?
We do a complete client consultation first. After observing the skin and specific concerns, we advise clients on a healthy diet and a daily skin care regime in the weeks leading up to the wedding. Skin colour should not bother brides at all; the main thing is to keep the skin clean and healthy. I have had a lot of brides asking me to make them fairer and have also seen makeup artists turn lovely dusky beauties into ghostly, white brides! These things just take away your personality; the woman in the photo is not going to be you. So just embrace your skin colour and be proud of it. In fact; much can be done on a dark skin tone than fair kin tone.. In fact; in the western world, artists prefer dark skinned models for shows over fair ones!
7) Finally, any advice for brides to be regarding their wedding day look?
Dear brides-to-be: I do understand that it is the biggest day of your life and you are probably getting the jitters. But have faith in your makeup artist- they know their job to perfection. Trust in them and they are sure to make you look divine -after all, they have the training and the tools and also have a reputation to maintain.
