Every girl dreams of having a flawless skin as seen in advertisements.  And while you may be tempted to try out every skin care product available over the counter…give a little thought before doing so. If the perfect ‘peaches and cream’ complexion was possible just through bottles of creams and jars of lotions, wouldn’t we all be beauty queens?  But worry not: healthy and glowing skin is possible provide you nourish it from the inside. Here is a list of power packed foods  which are known to yield awesome results on the skin.

Cherries

These bright red wonders are truly wonderful for your skin as they contain natural amino acids that protects you from ill effects of pollution and UV rays. What’s more? They help in delaying in aging process too.

Ways to include it your diet:-

Add it to a bowl of fruit or vegetable salad. You may eat 10-15 cherries a day.

Lemon

Known for its bleaching properties, lemon also flushes toxins away from your body. Lemon has certain enzymes that boost collagen which are the building blocks healthy skin.

Ways to include it your diet:-

Pour few drops of lemon over salad or drink it as lemonade, the point is to include its intake.

Tomatoes

These may be an essential part of most Indian curry dishes; but there is more to them.  They not only taste good but are also a great source of lycopene. Lycopene shields the skin from harmful rays of the sun and prevents sun damage. Rich in vitamin C, tomatoes can be eaten in salads or even rubbed onto the skin for an effective at-home-de-tanning facial.

Ways to include it your diet:-

Eat it raw in a salad or include it in a carrot and beetroot juice. For facial application, simply cut a tomato into two halves and rub the slices on your face. Rinse it off after 10 minutes.

Bananas

This fruit has multiple hidden benefits. Rich in nutrients like potassium, iron, zinc, manganese and vitamins A, B and E, bananas are no doubt a powerhouse of health. Regularly eating bananas ensures that your skin’s elasticity is maintained. It is also has hydrating properties, so say bye to wrinkles and dry skin!

Add slices of bananas to a bowl of cereal in your breakfast. You may even have it with yoghurt in summers.

 

Almonds

Remember how our moms used to force us to eat almonds every morning? They had a point you see. Almonds are loaded with vitamin E which is not only excellent for glowing skin but also for brain health. It has plant based protein which supports collagen growth to shield us from aging. So if you have lost the habit of eating almonds, better resume now.

Ways to include it your diet:-

Eat a handful of almonds everyday as your daily dose. Chop them and sprinkle on your breakfast cereal or add 5-6 almonds to a bowl of salad.

Green Tea

The world is going gaga over the health benefits of green tea so we don’t want to miss this out either. Green tea  is a health potion. It is rich in antioxidants which help in attaining glowing skin and also defy aging.

Ways to include it your diet:-

You can think of replacing your daily cup of coffee with green tea.  Drinking 2-3 cups a day is sufficient.

These super foods are supposed to be backed up with regular exercise and healthy eating. If you expect to get glowing skin after eating fried foods and chips and then drinking a cup of green tea. Not happening. So start a healthy lifestyle and be amazed with results.
