Throwing a cocktail party is the latest trend, and it is no more confined to the upper strata of the society.  So what could be the occasions for a cocktail party? The list is endless – any major launch, introducing a new product, and so on. If we talk about cocktail party during the wedding festivities, it is most suitable for announcing a wedding or as a pre wedding day bash. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? We discuss 4 major points to bear in mind when throwing a cocktail party.

Costume

Cocktail party before a wedding is probably the only occasion in the long Indian wedding celebrations where one can give the traditional wear a complete ditch. Bring out your long flowy gowns or  short numbers. Both go really well for this occasion, unless the bride has a theme in mind!!! But if do wish to wish wear a traditional outfit, a sari is the best bet. Make sure it is trendy and stylish and not too traditional. We recommend a glam, blingy, strappy blouse with a plain sari with just a hint of border.

Jewellery and shoes

Footwear

The often neglected accessory is footwear. But it is in fact more important than the dress you wear. Your feet bear the pressure all evening long. If it is a cocktail party needless to say there will be dancing. Making sure you can move in your new shoes is the best way to help yourself look cool and collected throughout the party. In order to do this, practice wearing your shoes around the house. No matter what kind of dress you’ve picked for your big night out, you need to pair it with beautiful shoes in order to complete your look. We recommend stilettos, high heels or  peep toes. If you are still looking for comfort in heels, T-strap sandals are your best bet. Make sure you invest time in buying a good pair of heels as they can make or break your evening. Your foot wear has to have the perfect amount of bling and shine but not too much to take attention away from your dress. Opt for nude pumps and neutral colours.

Indian bridal Make-up

Make up

Go all out on the make up to contrast your subtle dressing. Dramatic eyes will give you the pop required for a cocktail party. Red lips will tie up the whole look together. Make sure your skin doesn’t look patchy due to the heavy make-up. Since you will be dancing the night away, use the best water resistant make up unless you want to see your make-up running down your cheeks.

Accessories

These are crucial. For a cocktail party, less is more when it comes to accessories. Stay away from heavy and long chains. Try to find a simple yet elegant neck-piece to match your dress. A simple bracelet to go with the whole look is enough. You don’t have to pile yourself up. It is a cocktail party after all, and  not the actual wedding day. A clutch is perfect. We recommend a clutch with a long chain that can be pulled out later to make it more dance-friendly.
