Destinations for Honeymoon in India

Your wedding date is closing in; you have your wedding trousseau in place, the venue is booked, the invitations have been sent. But still not sure about your honeymoon plans??? Here are some places you could think about…..

First you need know how much time you have left after the wedding festivities for your honeymoon. Consciously keep enough days for this special occasion. This is the time you get to really know your partner. These are memories that will last forever.

Within India there are a number of places you could visit.

Rajasthan is the land of royalty. Rajasthan has lots of spots to cover like the wildlife sanctuaries, Mount Abu, the Chittorgarh fort: the largest fort in India and one that has never been captured by the British, the Udaipur Palace and Pushkar where the only Bramha temple of the country is situated, Jaipur also known as the pink city. Other notable places are Jodhpur which has the majestic Mehrangarh Fort, Jaisalmer where you can get a peek at the sand dunes of the great Thar dessert and Ajmer.

Further up north is Himachal Pradesh. Very different to the surrounding areas of Delhi and Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh has lots to offer in terms of geographic beauty. The region is full of hills and valleys. Shimla, Manali and Dalhousie are popular destinations for honeymoon. If its winter you can even enjoy some snow. If you are the adventurous couple, or you can opt for river rafting.

Another beautiful location for a relaxed honeymoon is Coorg. Coorg provides ample opportunity for the couple to enjoy each other’s company amidst the scenic natural beauty of the area. You can spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of the city life in this serene atmosphere.

Nearby is the famous hill station Ooty. The Ooty-Kodaikanal-Munnar package is also a good option. Mostly famous for the location of Bollywood songs, Ooty offers a visit to the beautiful botanical gardens. Kodaikanal is popularly known as the ‘Prince of Hill Stations’ and at Munnar you can see the vast expanses of tea plantations. All the greenery just fills your heart with delight and new hopes for the life ahead.

Further down south is Kerala known as God’s own country. Most famous for its boat houses and sea food, Kerala offers an atmosphere most calm and tranquil. You can choose the Vythiri Resort, Wayanad. It offers packages especially for honeymoon couples. The tree houses are a delight.
