Green Wedding Palette: Pantone Colour of the Year 2013

By  |

It’s been a while since we did a wedding palette for our Inspiration board. And just in time; since PANTONE has announced the 17-5641 Emerald, a lively, radiant, lush green, as their Colour of the Year for 2013. So we thought of doing a Green wedding palette to inspire our couples-to-be.

Green, as we all know, has a great deal of significance: it represents all things Mother Nature like the green of the grass and trees. Green also symbolizes growth and luxury since it is the colour of emeralds (and money in the US). Science has also proved that the human eye can see green more clearly than any other colour in the spectrum.

The lively, radiant and lush green of the emeralds also has great cultural significance. It symbolizes beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. Green also means healing and unity. As far as weddings are concerned, “green is definitely in” and many couples are choosing this colour for their wedding theme. Green wedding dresses in Indian weddings are symbolic on new beginnings and prosperity; many traditions in India insist on brides wearing this colour for their main wedding ceremony.

For your green wedding palette; considering pairing various shades of green with lively and radiant colours like yellow and orange. You can also opt for paler or lighter shades of green, in case you want to keep things subtle.

Emerald green can be particularly paired with purples, blues, gold and reds for a lush and energizing décor. Alternatively, you can opt for greys, muted yellows and whites for symbolizing balance and harmony.

Green, as we know, also symbolizes the arrival spring, so brides and grooms getting married in the spring of 2013 can choose the emerald-green palette. Winter weddings will also do well with this Pantone colour of the year 2013. Here are some more ideas for our Indian brides and grooms:
