Real Indian Weddings: Stylish Ceremony in Chandigarh by Sandeep Gupta Photography

By  |

Childhood Sweethearts Manvin Juneja and Kamaljeet Singh tied the knot on November 18th 2012 at the Chandigarh Club in an elegant wedding ceremony. Wedding planner Gursiman Walia planned the entire event and the day was documented by Sandeep Gupta of Sandeep Gupta Photography. Here is more about this stylish  wedding from our beautiful bride, Manvin:

Length of engagement– We were officially engaged for nearly 6 months, but we have known each other since our school days.

Wedding theme/colours– We wanted to colour coordinate our wedding; so we matched my dress with his Pagdi(turban).

Haldi/Mehendi and Sangeet– We had all these ceremonies but these were rather intimate with only close family members and friends in attendance.

Most memorable part of my wedding – I loved everything about the wedding; but the Jaimala(exchanging of garlands/necklace) was really a special moment. We also had a dramatic entry during the engagement: Kamaljeet (who is a Jaat), entered the venue hall to the famous Haryanvi song ‘Damaaadji Anganaa hai padhaare’ while my brothers held an ornate umbrella over him. I made a grand entry to the equally popular Punjabi song ‘Shagun di raat’, while my sisters showered flower petals over us!

Where did you shop for your attire and jewellery? The Kaliran (that you see in the pictures below) are of typical traditional variety worn by women decades ago. We purchased those from Jalandhar, while the beautiful nose ring (also in the pictures) is from Silver Haze in New Delhi. Other jewellery pieces were obtained from stores in Delhi and my dress was designed by a private designer, also based in the capital.

What advice would you like to give our brides-to-be? Before the wedding, it is very important that you eat right, so that you can look and feel good on the D-day. I have this terrible sweet tooth and I also have tendency to put on weight. But I practiced a great deal of self control and stayed away from sweets. If I can do it, so can you! Other than that, do take care of yourselves, pamper your self and go ahead and enjoy each moment!
