Sikh weddings are simple affairs that are still big on the traditions. This particular ceremony ( which is known as the Anand Karaj) was held in a San Jose Gurdwara. The bride hails from California Bay Area while the groom is from Canada. For her big day, she chose a beautiful red-green lehenga with exquisite detailing which Vijay has nicely captured in many of the photos. The groom and his best men all chose to wear beige Kurtas with a striking red turbans. The bridesmaids wore yellow and red salwar kameezes. The ladies from the groom’s side chose aqua and blue dresses. All this made the ceremony an extremely colourful one.
This wedding shows many traditions seen in the North Indian weddings including the tearful Bidaai ceremony(wherein the bride departs from her parent’s home), the Gruha pravesh(the couple’s formal entry into the groom’s home) and so on.
