When Riteish and Genelia announced that they would be getting married in early 2012, we’re fairly sure that we heard many hearts breaking in unison.
After all, Riteish is a much loved actor who can carry off comedy roles with such ease whereas Genelia is a well-known name in the Tamil film industry as well as in Bollywood.In fact, who even knew that this cute couple had been secretly dating for the past seven years, away from the prying eyes of the media?
And when they did eventually tie the knot, they ensured that equal importance was given to both Maharashtrian and Goan wedding ceremonies.
Sangeet: It’s common knowledge that most guests who may be unable to attend the actual wedding ceremony, do make it a point to make an appearance at the sangeet. Their sangeet function was held on January 31, 2012 at the Taj Land’s End in Bandra and saw many of the best known faces in Bollywood turn up to wish the couple. Genelia can be seen wearing a gorgeous white lehenga with peach- rose coloured embellishments whereas Riteish wears a Royal Blue sherwani and white pyjamas. The contrast in their attire actually makes them look very striking together.
Maharashtrian Hindu Ceremony: On February 3, 2012, the couple got married in a traditional Maharashtrian wedding ceremony. Genelia can be seen looking radiant in a Neeta Lulla creation which strikes the perfect look for the occasion whereas Riteish is wearing a white sherwani with ruby red embellishments and stone work.
Goan Christian Ceremony: The very next day, Ritesih and Genelia said their wedding vows again, but this time at the St Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Bandra. Unlike the earlier ceremony, this one was a much more private affair and was mostly attended only by close family members and friends. Shantanu & Nikhil are the talent behind the simple yet gorgeous white wedding gown worn by Genelia whereas Riteish wore a simple black suit. There was also a small wedding reception held after the ceremony where the couple cut a lovely wedding cake as man and wife.
Wedding Reception: This ultra-glam function was held in the evening at the Grand Hyatt and was high on colour and glamour. The bride was dressed in a heavy red lehenga wearing beautiful diamond jewellery whereas Riteish look cool yet poised in a designer sherwani. Needless to add, the who’s who of Bollywood didn’t fail to celebrate with the charming couple as well.
