Picture perfect sunsets, crystal blue lagoons, sumptuous food to tease one’s palate- these are a few of the wonderful things that Thailand has in store for couples planning to get married overseas. Destination weddings have caught on in a big way throughout the country and in Asia, Thailand has always been a top pick for couples looking for that extra something. Could it be the warm nature of the people that is so attractive? Or the fact that Thailand offers many landscapes which look like they have been painted? Whatever your reasons might be for choosing Thailand, here’s what you should keep in mind while planning a Thailand destination wedding:
Keep an eye on the weather

If a shower here and there doesn’t matter much to you, then head to Thailand during the months from May to October. You won’t get a taste of the same monsoons that we experience here in India but sporadic showers usually occur on a daily basis. It’s not unusual for many resorts to give good deals and offer special wedding packages at this time of the year, so if budget is a constraint, you may want to check this out. If a ‘dry’ day is what you would rather as you say your vows, then November to February is the right time to visit for a Thailand destination wedding.
Hire a wedding planner

An Indian wedding planner can work out all the nitty-gritties and ensure your dream wedding in Thailand comes true without hassles. Not only will the amount you pay be much lower at the end of the day; you’ll also get the best of everything that’s local and fresh. And yes, s/he can make a big difference to your Thailand destination wedding!
Thai Wedding? Yes!

Well, you don’t have to get married according to Indian customs you know. Your destination wedding can have lots of Thai customs and rituals at its core. But of course, if you do decide to walk a different path, what you should also be aware of is that marriage is a very serious institution and that there are a whole lot of customs you should be aware of. For example, punctuality is of utmost importance and that may also include walking down the aisle at a specific time of the hour.
Get your Guest List ready

It’s important to understand that many of your guests may actually not turn up due to personal factors and work related issues. That’s why you need to have an approximate idea about how many guests are certain to be there on your big day. One way to find out is by asking guests to RSVP their attendance at least 6 months before the wedding, thus giving you the time you need to make arrangements for their stay.
A Thailand destination wedding promises to be plenty of fun but in order to make the most of your stay there, it’s important that you plan well ahead just like you would for a local wedding.
