Destination weddings are all the rage this year too, much like last year when getting hitched in a foreign locale became the ‘trendy’ way to say your vows. Planning your own destination wedding? It’s not just about the beaches

Say the words ‘Destination wedding’ and what comes to mind are the sunny white sandy beaches of Thailand or even the coastline of Sri Lanka. But that’s just a popular misconception. Just because you want to have a destination wedding, it does not mean that you have to pack a beach towel and sunscreen to wear at the beach. A beach wedding isn’t for every couple and if it’s not for you, then we can think of a dozen other places that are just as romantic to have a wedding. You could feel like a princess and say your vows in a castle in Scotland or have a rustic wedding in a vineyard in France. The options for a dreamy destination wedding are just endless.

Invest in the best photographer

There’s a reason why couples don’t mind splurging on a good photographer who is worth his weight in hmm, pictures. Long after the guests are gone and the wine is over, it’ll be those photographs clicked that will instantly take you and your partner back to the day you were married. Don’t be tempted to go for a cheap photographer just because it’s a destination wedding and there are enough expenses to think about already. Only a truly professional photographer will be able to capture those special moments perfectly, just the way you expect him to.

Make it a honeymoon

If you’re not up for the idea of packing your bags after the 3 day wedding extravaganza and then going off on a honeymoon trip (keeping in mind that you still aren’t over the jetlag 100% and you didn’t even get to explore the wedding location like you wanted to), there’s no reason on earth why you can’t honeymoon in the city or in the country where your destination wedding is being held. In fact, we think it’s a great chance to do some serious bonding and not to mention, you’ll have many more opportunities to click more photos together in a much more relaxed frame of mind. Imagine going all the way to New York for the wedding and not getting to experience what makes the city tick. That would be a real shame.
