5 Wedding Planning Tips To Save Time and Money

By  |

As a bride-to-be, you have dreamt of your wedding since ages. Naturally you want to take on every little responsibility and have your hand in the tiniest of details. However, before you dive deep into things, you must know certain wedding planning hacks that will help you save time and money in the process. After all; you are not going to want to consider having a second chance at wedding planning-so do things right the first time around!

Focus on the food and entertainment

The truth is: people will not remember your dress, but they will certainly remember the food and the feeling they had on the occasion. So other things like your shoes, accessories, invitation cards etc could take a backseat. Guests will never say, “ Hey! I was not a fan of those invitations you sent”, but they will certainly say,” Man! That was the best food I ever tasted and the most fun music the DJ played”. So if there is one area you must splurge on, it is the food and the entertainment. Keep these things in the forefront of your wedding planning, and you will certainly save yourself a great deal of hassle as well as time and money on other not-so-important wedding planning aspects.

Find the best wedding caterers and entertainment for your big day!

Design your cards online

As stated before, the invitation cards should be the last thing you must splurge on, because even the prettiest ones probably end up in the trash. So go online, and create your own wedding invites, and print them at home or at a store nearby, on not-so-fancy paper. You could even save some more money (and paper!) by sending e-invitations.

Use a wedding portal

Wedding portals like ours can help you find suppliers and vendors all from the comforts of your home. You can get reviews and ratings of specific suppliers and call them to negotiate packages within your budget. Imagine the headaches and hassles it will save you when you use a one-stop-shop for planning all the details?

Save on the dress

The average cost of a wedding Lehenga or Sari can run up to hundreds of thousands of rupees. There are ways to save on them though; remember, you might not wear the heavier dresses/Saris ever again so you could always go for the inexpensive varieties or even wear your mother/mother-in-law’s lehenga/sari.  These days, sites like OLX and Quikr also let you contact sellers looking to sell their gently used wedding dresses. Sites like OurVivaha.com also had rentable wedding dresses for the Indian brides to be.

Save on the venue, flowers and decorations

To keep costs down, negotiate with your venue manager suggesting things like the use of seasonal flowers, or string lights, candles and other simple accessories to decorate while avoiding elaborate ones. Also choose the wedding mandaps/ banquet hall/ hotel closer to our home to help cut the transportation costs.

These are just a few ideas that can help you save time and money on your wedding planning. With some careful research, you can save further on your wedding photographer (No, we are not recommending that you ask a friend or cousin take the photos!), transportation (Do you really need a Mercedes Benz as your getaway car?)the guest list (Do you really need to invite your uncle’s cousin’s cousin on his maternal side?).
