  1. Plan a destination wedding: Yes, these are expensive but there is no better way than giving your guests a really relaxing time while creating lasting memories of your D-day. Our recent real wedding couple, Shraddha and Sanket had a lovely picnic themed wedding for this very reason.
  2. Make a grand entry-Arrive at the mandap to the background of an apt Bollywood song- Grooms can arrive in a vintage car or on an elephant.
  3. Entertain the guests with offbeat ideas– Ensure having at least one dance party prior to the wedding- Whether it is your Sangeet or Mehendi night; get a DJ and have your guests shake a leg-nothing like it to energize the wedding party.  You could even host a cricket match on the day before the wedding.
  4. Honour your parents- You could do this in so many ways:  by either raising a toast to them on your cocktail party night or having them do the first dance. You could even place their photos in various places at the venue.
  5. Have a small skit to depict your romance. You and your cousins could enact in a small play to entertain guests and let everyone know how you met your fiance.
  6. Opt for a themed event – Themes like Bollywood wedding, vintage wedding etc would be truly unique to Indian wedding celebrations.
  7. Having a wedding cake? Add a fabulous cake topper. This is a concept new to Indian weddings and will certainly have your guests impressed. You could have peacock or elephant shaped wedding cakes as well.
  8. Opt for a pre-wedding shoot– This is a new trend that is fast becoming old….so many of our real brides opted for a pre wedding shoot… and some even chose to incorporate those pictures in their wedding invitation cards.
  9. Wear a tiara- Forgo the wedding veil and traditional Indian wedding hairstyles. Instead, opt for a hairstyle that shows off your tiara in style.
  10. Set up a photo booth Guests can have so much fun posing  and you will get great keepsake photos of the  day. You can send personalized thank you notes along with the photos later.
  11. Distribute chocolates instead of mithaai and pedhaas. Most wedding guests love chocolates and if you can get the bite sized ones why won’t they be appreciated?
  12. Print unique invitation cards– These could be animated, or completely non-traditional. You could even make a save-the-date wedding video.
  13. Make a wedding website...such a lovely way to depict your love story.
  14. Bring a chaat-wala and make a “Gol Gappa” station…believe us, your guests will be talking about this for years to come.
  15. Have a whimsical outdoor wedding in a garden or at the beach instead of a stuffy indoor one.
